"Defense Department officials have said Pakistan is the United States' key ally in the war on terrorism because of the country's location."
And that's probably it, right? Musharraf is working against our operations from Afghanistan into the northern territories of Pakistan, where fucking Bin Laden's been hanging out since we started this whole bullshit - and NOW Bush says he's making it a priority to find the fucker?
All the while he thinks he can bomb Musharraf's back yard and call him a critical ally in our new, great war?
yeah, it's a chess game. Bush has to look nice to Musharraf in the media because of the core fact that his entire administration lacked diplomatic integrity and competence since the day George W entered the White House (covered in splattered eggs). Also the same reason we have our crosshairs on Iran at the moment.
Lets fight the enemy by killing their families and neighbors. Brilliant idea.
Speaking of ideas, whatever happened to Bush's proposal that the war on terror was at core a war of ideas? Remember _way_ back, day(s) after sept 11 attack? I suppose I had quite a different understanding of what he meant by ideas.
What if the brilliant idea dawned on bush to recognize the fact that humankind had moved towards an inevitable need for common understanding in the wake of inevitable move towards globalization? What if the rest of what motivated his decisions were based on the mentality of one who recognized that the world has grown to depend on the United States to show leadership by example. What if, and I know this is a s t r e t c h but what if Bush stopped to wonder, "Hmm.. I wonder if some of the stuff the United States has done to the rest of the world has ticked some people off??" Hmmmm... I wonder.
I have grown soooo tired of feeling so disconnected with the thought patterns of those who make decisions to steer our country.
